High School Musicarol: Act 3
SCENE 1: BACK AT ZAC’S HOUSE
GHOST OF GRADUATION:
Well, that was a great adventure but unfortunately we ran out of time.
ZAC:
What? How did we run out of time? What about the University of Phoenix-Online?
GHOST OF GRADUATION:
Just keep your eyes open for the commercials. They play all the time and they have campuses all over. We don’t have time to look at it. You got your 8 hours of sleep. That’s all the time we had to work with.
ZAC:
You mean it was all a dream?
GHOST OF GRADUATION:
Yes, that’s the way it works.
ZAC:
But why can I still see you?
GHOST OF GRADUATION:
[chuckles] Call it a Christmas miracle. [chuckles].I hope you learned your important lesson. Goodbye Zac. [chuckles] [poof].
ZAC:
Hmm…what have I learned from this experience? I don’t really know.
ZAC’S MOM: [from a distance]
Zac dear! Breakfast is ready.
[running downstairs]
ZAC:
It smells delicious. What are we having?
ZAC’S MOM:
It’s a new recipe from the researchers at EL Fudge University.
ZAC:
[Gasps] Don’t eat that. Don’t you know that can kill you?!
ZAC’S MOM:
Oh, Zac. It sounds like someone had a visit from the Christmas ghosts last night.
ZAC:
Yes, I did. And it seems like everything dealing with Christmas leads to sadness and misery.
ZAC’S MOM:
Is that really the lesson you learned? Does that seem right to you?
ZAC:
Well [pause] I guess not. I guess what I really learned is that selfishness, greed, and lack of self-control can make even good things become bad. But if you look outside yourself and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas and togetherness, the things I saw really will be vehicles for spreading Christmas cheer and the good news of Christ’s birth.
You know mom, I think this holiday season will be a happy one. Can you pass the pancakes?
